Re: The Swedish Corporal Punishment Ban and the Vikings.
One comment I like to make. And from where does this claustrophobia come? No, I don’t think it sits in the genes, and not that human species is born with this… O course I can be wrong… Claustrophobia is an irrational fear. And as always with phobias, the person doesn't know why he or she is experien...

Re: The Swedish Corporal Punishment Ban and the Vikings.
I've to admit I'm not really interested in the history of the Vikings. I've always prioritized my own history over that of others, but if there's anything worth mentioning in the context of child-rearing, you can post it without the worry of copyright. I don’t know if my family is an exception, but ...

Re: The Swedish Corporal Punishment Ban and the Vikings.
No doubt there is a link between traumatic childbirth and suicide. But it doesn't explain why many countries that use harsh medical interventions have lower suicide rates than Lithuania and Russia. Birth practices in Lithuania and Russia are horrible. Probably the worst in the world. Which countrie...

Re: The Swedish Corporal Punishment Ban and the Vikings.
The suicide rate in Sweden is quite high when you think of the standard of living here and the rights of children. According to the WHO, Sweden scores a bit higher than the US, and is on the 10th place. See this data on this site for example. But the countries that really stick out are Lithuania and...

Re: Mind Control Experiments
Euthanasia is really a dangerous thing in the hands of a government. There's nothing good in supporting one's wish in suicide. As an example, take someone with a severe depression who has suicidal thoughts. These people already have been exposed to incredible cruel methods such as Electric Shock the...

Re: Mind Control Experiments
I don't remember which article I've read but I remember that I've read once that he was abused. The Dutch paper I write for has published a lot of anti-Scientology stuff and the Dutch woman Karin Spaink has written loads about Scientology. So I've probably read it there some time. In any case, it's ...

Re: Mind Control Experiments
Cesar, I'm sure there are unreliable sources CCHR uses. But this has nothing to do with the validity of mind control experiments. These experiments have a wide range of sources, even official governmental sources. Also it's not a new discovery that L. Ron Hubbard was severally abused as a child and ...

Re: Reflections on therapy
DRB , that's indeed a long list of impressive supporters against child beating. It seems like the trend to ban corporal punishment is growing among countries. A few words about Noam Chomsky. He's an anarchist, admits he's an anarchist but he won't mention it so often, because of the many prejudice ...

Re: Reflections on therapy
As you can see, I've started a new thread for this. I think therapy was never meant to heal the masses. It was invented to take the edge off from 'might-be deviants', or 'has-been deviants'. If someone has 'ordinary problems' such as depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, no way a doctor would se...

Re: Reflections on therapy
Steve , I don't know if you have read it, but on Daniel Mackler's forum , there are some good criticisms on Alice Miller. I wrote down my experiences I had with Alice Miller when she had her own forum in 2001, which you can read here . Karin , of course you can translate parts of the Sinéad O'Conno...

Re: Sinead or ?
I absolutely don't know a thing about how to fix people. Wish I could offer something that I thought might work but I just don't know. I think not breaking them in the first place is a FANTASTIC way to head off trouble, and that's what I hope I can maybe somehow contribute to more than anything. It...

Re: Primal Healing by Arthur Janov
I've finished the book now and I think together with Prisoners of Pain, it's one of his best books. I also thought it was interesting to read that there's no difference in socio-economic classes when it comes to child abuse, but by far most who come to Janov's Primal Center are from the working clas...

Re: Sinead or ?
Steve , yes, it took a while to translate the interview and the thing is, I had translated it back in 1992 for a pen friend but couldn't find a copy of the typewriter version anywhere. Then I got frustrated that the most important interview Sinéad had given is no where to be found on Internet. Mayb...
